1 Et egressus Jesus de templo, ibat.
|||||was going
1 And when Jesus came out of the temple, he went
|||||they might show||the buildings|
And his disciples came to him to show him the buildings of the temple.
2 Ipse autem respondens dixit illis : Videtis hæc omnia ?
2 But he answered and said to them: Do you see all these things?
||||||stone|||||will be destroyed
Amen, I say to you, there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.
3 Sedente autem eo super montem Oliveti, accesserunt ad eum discipuli secreto, dicentes : Dic nobis, quando hæc erunt ?
sitting||||||||||||||||
3 And while he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him secretly, saying: Tell us, when will these things be?
|||coming|||of the end|
And what is the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?
4 Et respondens Jesus, dixit eis : Videte ne quis vos seducat : 5 multi enim venient in nomine meo, dicentes : Ego sum Christus : et multos seducent.
|||||||||deceive|||||||||||||will deceive
4 And answering, Jesus said to them: Take heed that no one deceives you: 5 For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many.
6 Audituri enim estis prælia, et opiniones præliorum.
|||||opinions|of battles
6 For you will hear of wars and rumors of wars.
||be troubled||||||||end|||nation||nation|||||||pestilences||famine||earthquakes||||||the beginning||pains
See that you are not troubled: for these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet: for nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes in various places: all these are the beginnings of sorrows.
9 Tunc tradent vos in tribulationem, et occident vos : et eritis odio omnibus gentibus propter nomen meum.
||||tribulation|||||||||||
Then they will deliver you up to tribulation, and will kill you: and you will be hated by all nations for my name's sake.
10 Et tunc scandalizabuntur multi, et invicem tradent, et odio habebunt invicem.
|||||one another||||will have|
And then many will be offended, and will betray one another, and will hate one another.
11 Et multi pseudoprophetæ surgent, et seducent multos.
||false prophets||||
||abounded|||||||||||||
|will be preached|||||the universe|the world||testimony||to the nations||||
14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world, as a testimony to all nations: and then the consummation will come.
||you see||of desolation||spoken|||Daniel||standing||place|||reads|understand||||||let them flee||mountains||||on the roof||let him descend|||||||||||let it return|||
||||nourishing|||
|||||flight|||winter|||||||||||||||||
20 But pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath; 21 for then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.
||shortened|||||would be||||||the elect|would be shortened||
22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.
||||||||||there||believe
23 Then if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or 'There!' do not believe it.
||false Christs||||they will give||||wonders||||error|they are led astray|||||
For there will arise false Christs and false prophets, and they will show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.
25 Ecce prædixi vobis.
|I have predicted|
Behold, I have told you beforehand.
26 Si ergo dixerint vobis : Ecce in deserto est, nolite exire ; Ecce in penetralibus, nolite credere.
|||||||||go out|||the innermost parts||
So if they say to you, 'Look, he is in the wilderness,' do not go out; 'Look, he is in the inner rooms,' do not believe it.
||lightning|||||it appears|||the west||||||
27 For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
28 Ubicumque fuerit corpus, illic congregabuntur et aquilæ.
||||they will be gathered||the eagles
28 Wherever the corpse is, there the eagles will be gathered together.
||||of days|||will be darkened||moon|||||||will fall||||||will be shaken|||will appear||||||||plangent||||||||||from the clouds|||the powers|||majesty
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken: 30 and then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven: and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31 Et mittet angelos suos cum tuba, et voce magna : et congregabunt electos ejus a quatuor ventis, a summis cælorum usque ad terminos eorum.
|||||||voice|||they will gather|||||||the heights||||boundaries|
31 And he will send his angels with a trumpet and a loud voice: and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of heaven to the other.
|tree||fig tree|learn||||branch||tender||||born|you know|for|near||summer||||||||know|||||at the doors
32 Learn a parable from the fig tree: when its branch has already become tender and leaves have sprouted, you know that summer is near: 33 so also, when you see all these things, know that it is near, at the doors.
34 Amen dico vobis, quia non præteribit generatio hæc, donec omnia hæc fiant.
34 Amen I say to you, that this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.
|||will pass|||||will pass by
36 But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, except the Father alone.
||||Noah|||||||||||||flood|eating||drinking|marrying||marriage|giving in marriage||||day|||||ark||||||||he took|||||||
37 Just as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be at the coming of the Son of Man: 38 for in those days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and being given in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark, 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away: that is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.
40 Tunc duo erunt in agro : unus assumetur, et unus relinquetur.
||||||will be taken|||
40 Two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left.
41 Duæ molentes in mola : una assumetur, et una relinquetur.
|grinding|||||||
41 Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left.
42 Vigilate ergo, quia nescitis qua hora Dominus vester venturus sit.
Stay awake|||you do not know|what||||coming|
42 Therefore stay awake, for you do not know at what hour your Lord is coming.
|||||he knew||||thief|||he would be awake||||he would allow|to be broken into||
43 But this you know, that if the householder had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into.
||||ready||||||||
44 Therefore you also must be ready: for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
|||faithful|||wise||has appointed||||his household|||||food||
45 Who do you think is a faithful and prudent servant, whom his master has appointed over his family to give them food in season?
46 Beatus ille servus, quem cum venerit dominus ejus, invenerit sic facientem.
||||||||finds||doing
Blessed is that servant, whom when his lord comes, he finds doing so.
47 Amen dico vobis, quoniam super omnia bona sua constituet eum.
||||||goods||will place|
Amen I say to you, that he will set him over all his goods.

But if that evil servant shall say in his heart: My lord delays to come: and shall begin to strike his fellow servants, and shall eat and drink with drunkards: the lord of that servant shall come in a day when he does not expect, and at an hour that he does not know: and shall divide him, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
