Matt. 21

1 And when they had approached Jerusalem, and had come to Bethphage at the Mount of Olives: then Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them: Go into the village that is opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her: untie them, and bring them to me: 3 and if anyone says anything to you, you shall say, 'The Lord has need of them': and immediately he will send them.
||||||||||||||daughter|Zion||||||gentle|sitting||||||of the yoke
4 Now all this was done, that what was spoken by the prophet might be fulfilled, saying: 5 Tell the daughter of Zion: Behold, your king comes to you meek, sitting on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
6 Euntes autem discipuli fecerunt sicut præcepit illis Jesus.
6 And the disciples went and did as Jesus commanded them.
7 Et adduxerunt asinam, et pullum : et imposuerunt super eos vestimenta sua, et eum desuper sedere fecerunt.

7 And they brought the donkey and the colt, and laid their clothes on them, and set him on them.

8 And many crowds spread their garments on the road; others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, saying: Hosanna to the Son of David; blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord; hosanna in the highest.
||||was disturbed|||||||
10 And when he entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred, saying: Who is this?
11 Populi autem dicebant : Hic est Jesus propheta a Nazareth Galilææ.
11 But the people said: This is Jesus the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee.

15 But when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying out in the temple and saying: Hosanna to the Son of David: they were indignant, 16 and said to him: Do you hear what these are saying?
Jesus autem dixit eis : Utique.
But Jesus said to them: Yes.

17 Et relictis illis, abiit foras extra civitatem in Bethaniam : ibique mansit.

18 Mane autem revertens in civitatem, esuriit.
||returning|||
18 In the morning, however, returning to the city, he was hungry.

19 And seeing a fig tree by the way, he came to it and found nothing on it but leaves only, and said to it: Let no fruit grow on you forever.
Et arefacta est continuo ficulnea.

And immediately the fig tree withered.

20 And when the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying: How did it wither away so soon?

21 And responding, Jesus said to them: Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain: Be taken up and thrown into the sea, it will happen.

23 And when he had come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him as he was teaching, saying: By what authority are you doing these things?

24 Respondens Jesus dixit eis : Interrogabo vos et ego unum sermonem : quem si dixeritis mihi, et ego vobis dicam in qua potestate hæc facio.

24 Jesus answered them, I will also ask you one question: if you tell me the answer, then I will tell you by what authority I do these things.

But they were thinking among themselves, saying: 26 If we say, 'From heaven,' he will say to us: 'Why then did you not believe him?'

27 Et respondentes Jesu, dixerunt : Nescimus.

27 And answering Jesus, they said: We do not know.
Ait illis et ipse : Nec ego dico vobis in qua potestate hæc facio.
He said to them also: Nor do I tell you by what authority I do these things.
28 Quid autem vobis videtur ?
28 But what do you think?

Postea autem, pœnitentia motus, abiit.

Afterwards, however, moved by repentance, he went away.
30 Accedens autem ad alterum, dixit similiter.
30 But coming to the other, he said likewise.

But he answered and said: 'I go, sir,' and did not go: 31 Which of the two did the will of the father?

Dicit illis Jesus : Amen dico vobis, quia publicani et meretrices præcedent vos in regnum Dei.

Jesus said to them: 'Amen, I say to you, that tax collectors and prostitutes will go before you into the kingdom of God.'

Hear another parable: There was a master of a household who planted a vineyard, and put a fence around it, and dug a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to farmers, and went abroad.

35 And the farmers, having seized his servants, beat one, killed another, and stoned another.
36 Iterum misit alios servos plures prioribus, et fecerunt illis similiter.

36 Again he sent other servants more than the first, and they did the same to them.
